Sony vg10 real world shoot using different lenses

I’m using the Sony vg 10 for a documentary I’m shooting in NYC. I have been using 3 lenses. Sony’s e mount 18-300, Sigma 10-50 2.8-4.5 OS a mount lens and Minolta 50mm 1.7 a mount both with Sony’s adapter. The 18-300 is ok for a kit lens. Produces good color. Auto focus is off at times. The Sigma is good also although manual focus. The in lens stabilization is a plus. I shot with it at 2.8.The Minolta 50mm 1.7 was by far the best. I shot with it at 2.0

A Nifty Trick From The Sony Alpha a33 [ DSLT-A33 Tested With Minolta F/1.7 50mm Prime Lens ]

What you’ll see here are two test videos with the same exact settings, only changes are the focus from Auto to Manual, exposure, lighting and the depth of field. If you want to try out this trick yourself, here is how to do it. 1. Set the camera to Manual Focus (the switch either on the base of the lens mount or on the lens itself). 2. Focus on where your subject will be. You can optionally invoke the Focus Magnifier function to do this. 3. Set your camera to “A” (Aperture Priority) mode and choose your f/stop via the front control dial. Record away! You will hear and see the f/stop of the lens close down when recording mode starts. When your camera starts to record video, it will also use the currently set white balance, creative styles, exposure lock, exposure compensation, AF area (if you’re autofocusing), and metering mode. So you still do have quite a bit of latitude to get your footage to look the way you want. You’ll notice a difference quickly in how your video looks, as I hope you’ll see the differences in my test clips. They may not be good, but it helps. And at least to my knowledge, this works with Picture mode as well, even though you have the ability to adjust the exposure in Picture mode.

Minolta AF 50mm 1:1.7 prime lens for Sony DSLR

Short demo film of the Minolta 50mm 1.7 on a Sony A33. I just love this lens, keep putting it on the camera time and again. Fantastic, indestructible build, great colour, bokeh, contrast, sharpness. Smooth manual focusing (yes, the AF-noises on video are a bit annoying). It has a tendency to show flare when you get too close to the light source (milky haze), so get a rubber hood for it.
